"Wendy my dear, your advice on severing the ties between that skyward boy and his dark shade of a shadow was spot on. Me and the crew 'ave been whittlin' away at the bond between the two and its put Pan off from terrorizing the children 'round these parts for the time being."
The armor clad knight gently smiled and with a nod spoke.
"Well of course I was right, boy. It's the same tactic I used when I freed the Lost Boys those years ago, you yourself must've been to young to remember that."
Her face grew grim and a sadness settled about her. Her voice was slightly troubled when she next spoke.
"He wasn't always this way you know. He was once just a boy himself, playful and bright as a star. But like a star he fell. He embraced the darkness and chose to never grow old, to never wither away and be forgotten. He lost someone very dear to him and it broke his heart."
The ship creaked as the two sat in silence, the Captain mulling over what Sir Squire had revealed to him.
"Aye, do ya reckon that he can be saved Wendy? Is there any hope for-"
Gaius's voice trailed off and he cocked his head to the side with his ear toward the aft windows in his cabin. He started tapping his hook rhythmically. Tap, tap. Tap, tap. Tap, tap. Soon behind his tapping another sound could be heard.
Tic, toc. Tic, toc. Tic, toc....
Tipping his chair as he bolted to his feet, he threw open the doors and stepped out on deck.
"Mister Turnip! Set sail!!!"
"Aye, aye Cap'n! Where to?"
"Anywhere but here blast it! Full sail in that direction!" he shouted and cast his hand toward open waters.
As the anchor came up a scaley tail the size of a long boat brushed along the side of the ship and disappeared under the waterline. As the ship was moving out the helmsman felt a jerk at the wheel. Later they'd find that the rudder was in need of a repair as it had a bite taken out of it....
